Downtime

Bah.

The T_S Journal site will need to come down sometime this weekend for a proper upgrade. I botched the original install (from Fantastico’s perspective anyway) and would like to correct that.

I’ve also been away from this site, but tis because I’m a bit busy again. Mostly following other’s weblogs. ;) I’ll start to update the ToDo page with topics I want to write about but don’t have the time. Hopefully that will help. Will also drop one of those ’email comment’ thingies so others can make suggestions.

EDIT – I’m also trying to attend to my personal health, which is making me drop off the online radar a bit again. Nothing serious (thankfully), just gotten out of shape the past five years and trying to correct it. This was spurred on by the suddenness of what happened to my tooth a couple months ago (which is still being worked on) as the dentist has no clue how that happened.

Annoying Weekends

As other folks on MystBlogs have made me feel somewhat better about my past weekend (i.e. misery loves company), I’m obligated to give back and post the rather roller-coaster-like fun I’ve been through.

Before starting, note that my ‘weekend’ normally starts first thing Friday morning, as I work 3rd shift. With that out of the way…

Fri afternoon – Planned upgrades to our backup system at work. Went smooth (so I should have realized something was amiss), done about 3 hours including cleaning up after.

Sat – Rather hellish experience with the second half of said upgrade. Included two hours following a red herring (bad tape made me think at first was a bad drive) and five hours on the phone with EMC (whose tech was really cool for someone on-call on a Saturday evening). Ended up my being stupid and not doing something out of old habit to clear part of the system configuration. *Huge-HeadDesk*

Sun-Today – Being ultra-careful and getting things back in order again. I’ll probably be still doing this another day or so. *sigh* Thankfully that was interspersed with nice weather on Sunday and Monday – enough so to run up to the NY RenFaire, so it was not all bad. Just annoying as ever…

Updates

As I’ve left a couple things up in the air…

—–

Dentist – Visit #2 was last week, got things sealed up and a better temp filling in place. Now on the waiting game for the infected area around it to heal.

—–

SL Forums – It’s been clarified that only certain sections of their forum will be closed. In particular, the ones either 1) not directly involved with SL discussion, or 2) exploited too much by trollers. Also the group forums, but that’s in a few months.

That comes down to their General sections as well as Land and Economy, for the biggest offenders. Hopefully, that will calm things down a bit.

I may even consider ResModding again…

Things You do NOT Want to Hear From Your Dentist

“Are you sure you’re not in pain??!?”

This was from an emergency visit yesterday, when a tooth chipped a bit. And no, I was not in pain at the time, believe it or not.

Turns out it’s totally dead, the root’s all gone and festered. I should be picking up meds to help with the final (internal) cleanup this afternoon.

Thankfully, this dentist is a cool guy, and the cleaning was smooth sailing (though expensive x.x ). At least two visits to go before its done though, including the post and crown work.

Vacation Week

I had off from work this week, and a brief summary of the fun I had so far follows:

MondayEmpire State Building (102nd floor – really neat since I could identify the nearby work buildings as well as my apartment building) and the Bodies exibit at South Street Seaport (got lost finding the place).

TuesdaySt Paul’s Chapel (across from the WTC Site) and the Museum of American Financial History and its immediate environs – like the famous bull statue there on Wall Street.

Note that Mon/Tue were, last I heard, the hottest days on record around here. Not fun, but I knew ahead of time what was expected and had planned appropriately.

Wednesday – Running errands for myself and my family. On the way home I ended up with a flat tire, but was able to get it repaired within an hour of getting the spare on (GoodYear rocks over at their Somerset station).

By this point I was flirting with a potential sunburn and decided to stay home the rest of the week. ;)

Thursday – Mostly vegging out, and switching back to a night schedule for when I get back to work next week. I also prepared the old desktop case (the Aria) for donation; It’s now packed and mostly ready to go, just need to collect everything needed like manuals and stuff.

Friday (planned) – Continue the migration back to nights, and do some local errands that I normally have only time on weekends for.

And on that note, off to bed. *wave*
